Every spring, something changes around Rue Constant-Drouault in Le Mans. The excitement is not that of a product launch or a traditional sales promotion. It is that of a factory which, for two days, decides to show itself as it really is.
For nearly 175 years, Drouault has been manufacturing high-end bedding accessories in Sarthe. A discreet industrial history, deeply rooted in the region. Opening its doors to the public was born out of a simple desire: to share this rare expertise with the people of Sarthe and allow them to benefit from the advice of those who manufacture pillows and duvets every day.
But very quickly, this idea became much more than an annual sale.
Opening the factory, forging links with the people of Sarthe
For the first time in its history, Drouault has decided to invite the public from Le Mans and the Sarthe region to discover its products during a major spring sale at the Magasins Généraux. These warehouses, located in the immediate vicinity of the historic factory, which is still in operation, welcome visitors once the high season is over.
Here, people don’t just come to shop. They come to understand. To ask questions. To exchange ideas.
Visitors meet the women and men who work with feathers, assemble the fillings and check the quality. They discover what makes the difference between an ordinary duvet and a product designed to last. Advice then takes on its full meaning, embodied by professionals who talk about their work with precision and pride.

Highlighting the people behind Drouault
At the heart of this event are, above all, the manufacturing teams. Nearly 150 employees, mobilised well in advance, come together around a collective project.
During these two days, employees take turns welcoming visitors, offering advice and providing explanations. Their role goes far beyond sales: they talk about their work, pass on their expertise and share their passion. The factory takes on a human face.
This involvement strengthens pride in belonging and showcases a vibrant company where knowledge is shared as much as it is passed on.
French expertise, vibrant and local
The clearance sale is also an ideal opportunity to showcase expertise recognised by the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label. It is a chance to explain the manufacturing choices, the quality and durability of the materials, and to remind people that the products on display have been manufactured locally, in Sarthe, since 1850.
Far from being a simple clearance sale, part of the range has been produced specifically for the event. The aim is not only to sell, but also to raise awareness among the people of Le Mans and strengthen the brand’s local and regional roots, with a strong heritage dimension.
An event that brings the region to life
By opening its doors once a year, Drouault plays a full part in the economic and social life of the local area. The event attracts local visitors, generates footfall and contributes to the appeal of the neighbourhood and the city.
It is also a way for the manufacturer to fulfil its role as a historic industrial player, committed and deeply rooted in the life of Le Mans.
A direct, sincere and lasting relationship with the public
These two days are also a time for listening. Discussions are direct, feedback immediate and authentic. They fuel reflection on habits, expectations and needs related to sleep quality.
For visitors, the experience leaves a lasting impression.
“We’ve already bought two duvets, four pillows and a mattress protector, and we’re coming back for our children,” explain Monique and Jacques, retired residents of Le Mans. “We’ve known Drouault for about twenty years and we’re very satisfied with their products.”

An approach consistent with Drouault’s values
Organising a local street market combines human commitment, the transmission of know-how and regional influence.
For Drouault, this annual event is part of a long-term vision: to bring French industrial heritage to life, to promote those who uphold it and to continue to forge strong links with its region of origin.
A moment of sharing. A tool for transmission. And a unifying collective project, just like La Manufacture.
