Multi-compartment pillows are one of Manufacture Drouault’s historic signatures. Developed in the 1970s, this technology is based on unique expertise combining down and feathers to offer a precise balance between support and softness. Thanks to a multi-compartment cover, Drouault controls the distribution of the filling and offers durable pillows designed to adapt to sleep needs and reflect more than 175 years of French expertise.

The multi-compartment pillow: a signature product from Manufacture Drouault

For over 175 years, Drouault has cultivated unique expertise in sleep, based on its mastery of down and feathers. This rare know-how, passed down from generation to generation, guides the Manufacture in its pursuit of a single goal: to design sustainable products, designed to offer just the right level of comfort, balanced and consistent over time.

This expertise has given rise to innovations that have become iconic. Among them, pillows with multiple compartments occupy a special place. More than just technology, they embody a deep understanding of sleep and the properties of natural materials.

The origins of a pioneering innovation

In the 1970s, Drouault launched and patented the first three-compartment pillow manufactured in France: the Regina model.

A major innovation for its time, born from an essential question: how to offer both softness and support, without compromise?

The answer lies in an innovative design. Regina is presented as two pillows in one:

  • the luxury and lightness of down for a warm welcome,
  • the spring and the structure of the feathers for support.

A visionary approach that laid the foundations for a technology that is now inseparable from Drouault’s identity.

Why a multi-compartment pillow?

The principle is based on a simple yet demanding idea: combining fillings with complementary properties within the same pillow.

Thanks to an envelope divided into several compartments, the down and feathers are separated and positioned with precision. The firmer core supports the neck and cervical vertebrae. The outer compartments, filled with down, offer a soft, enveloping and light feel.

This architecture allows the natural qualities of the materials to be fully exploited:

  • the softness and loftiness of down,
  • the structure and maintenance of the feathers.

The result: a subtle balance between comfort and support, designed to accompany the body night after night.

The benefits of signature construction

Multi-compartment technology enables, in particular:

  • Support tailored to each body type: the firm core moulds to the neck without being rigid.
  • Controlled, long-lasting softness: the down retains its loft over time.
  • Excellent durability: the balanced distribution of the filling limits migration and ensures consistent performance.

It is this combination of technical innovation and historical expertise that makes multi-compartment pillows a signature range for Maison Drouault.

A comprehensive range, designed for all sleepers

Since Regina, Drouault’s expertise has continued to grow. The collection of multi-compartment pillows has been developed to meet a variety of needs and sleeping preferences. Now comprising seven models, it is one of the pillars of the company’s expertise.

Softness, breathability, durability: these criteria guide every development.

Certain models perfectly illustrate this constant quest:

The Palladium pillow, now a must-have item, is available in three comfort levels. Its latest version, Palladium Ergo, combines the support of a multi-compartment pillow with a curved cover designed to mould to the shape of the neck and relieve tension.

The Millénium pillow embodies the excellence of high-end comfort. Its goose feather core is surrounded by two layers of goose down, offering precise support and natural softness. Its 139 threads per square centimetre cotton satin cover, both silky and breathable, makes it an exceptional pillow for a naturally refined sleep.

A signature that is also expressed through excellence

This mastery of multi-compartment envelopes is also evident in iconic creations such as Nuit de rêve à la française, a pillow on display at the Élysée Palace. This piece perfectly illustrates the combination of innovation, expertise in down and French manufacturing standards.
